  10. The short version

Reply.io is a mature sales engagement platform, rated about 4.6 out of 5 on G2 from more than 1,505 reviews, according to SalesRobot's June 2026 review. So why is "Reply.io alternative" such a common search? Rarely the product. It is the bill: pricing is per user, LinkedIn and calling stack on top of every seat, and Jason, the AI SDR that gets most of the attention, is a separate purchase reported at $500 a month on annual billing.

One disclosure before the tables: SDRclose publishes this blog and appears in them. Every Reply.io figure below is labeled reported, because Reply.io's pricing page returned an HTTP 403 error on every fetch attempted on September 5, 2026. Where Reply.io is the better buy, we say so.

Key takeaways

  • Reply.io's Email Volume plan is reported at $49 to $59 per user per month on annual billing, and a fully loaded multichannel seat at about $187 per user once LinkedIn, calls and validation are added (Amplemarket, May 2026).
  • Jason AI is sold separately: a reported $500 a month annually or $800 monthly for Starter, $1,500 to $2,500 for Growth (SalesRobot, June 2026).
  • Reviewers describe an undisclosed three-month minimum, no refunds on paid monthly bills, and no built-in warm-up.
  • SDRclose is $39 a month billed annually, priced per workspace rather than per seat, with research, reply classification, out-of-office handling and booking included, as of September 2026.
  • Pick Reply.io anyway if you need calls, SMS and LinkedIn in one sequence, run a larger per-seat team, or want its agency tier.

Why teams look for a Reply.io alternative

Reply.io covers a lot of ground: email sequences, LinkedIn steps, calling, SMS, an agency workspace and an AI SDR. Public complaints cluster around how that breadth is priced and contracted, not whether it works.

SalesRobot's review, published June 5, 2026, lists a mandatory three-month minimum "that isn't clearly disclosed", no refunds of paid monthly bills, LinkedIn automation causing account blocks, chat-only support that is not available around the clock, a non-intuitive interface, and no built-in email warm-up. The same review notes that Jason AI is not bundled into the Sales Outreach plans.

The second theme is the gap between sticker price and real one. Tomba's AI SDR pricing comparison puts Reply.io's AI tier in its mid-market band: roughly $59 to $259 a month advertised, against $500 to $1,200 in real spend once seats, add-ons and data are counted.

Reply.io and Jason AI pricing (reported, May to June 2026)

Reply.io did not serve us its pricing page, so the table rests on two dated third-party breakdowns. Treat every figure as reported.

Plan or add-on Reported price What it covers Source and date
Email Volume $49 to $59 per user, annual 1,000 to 5,000 active contacts Amplemarket, May 2026
Multichannel $89 per user annual, $99 monthly 10 mailboxes, multichannel sequences Amplemarket, May 2026
Agency From $166 per month, annual only Multi-client workspace Amplemarket, May 2026
Add-ons LinkedIn about $69 per account, calls and SMS about $29 per user, validation $20 Stack on a seat Amplemarket, May 2026
True multichannel total About $187 per user per month All of the above combined Amplemarket, May 2026
Jason AI Starter $500 per month annual, $800 monthly 500 to 3,000 contacts, by source SalesRobot, June 2026
Jason AI Growth $1,500 to $2,500 per month Higher contact volume SalesRobot, June 2026

The outreach plans come from Amplemarket's cost breakdown of May 28, 2026. The Jason figures come from SalesRobot and are echoed by Artisan's July 2026 pricing article at roughly $500 to $800 a month.

The sources do not all agree. White Space Solutions' May 2026 guide lists Reply.io Jason at $59 per user per month, "included in Business plan", which may describe a lighter assistant tier or may simply be stale. A spread that wide is why a written quote beats any blog table, this one included.

Jason AI SDR alternatives: what $500 a month buys against $39

Jason is why many buyers land on Reply.io in the first place. At the reported $500 a month on annual billing, that is $6,000 a year before the outreach plan it does not include, or $800 to pay monthly.

An SDRclose Starter workspace is $39 a month billed annually, $49 monthly, with 7,500 credits a month, as of September 2026. Mining a lead costs 3 credits, researching it 3, and each email or auto-reply sent 1. Working a lead end to end runs about 10 credits, so Starter covers roughly 750 leads a month; Professional at $69 annual doubles that allowance.

So $6,000 a year against $468 is not a rounding difference, and it is fair to ask what you give up: LinkedIn steps, a phone channel and a larger integration ecosystem. What you keep is the part that decides whether outbound works at all. Every prospect is researched before the first email, the draft is written for that person, an outbound filter strips the AI tells (em dashes, "leverage", "seamless", "I hope this email finds you well"), and nothing leaves the review queue until someone approves it.

Roundups such as Autobound's 2026 review of AI SDR software conclude that fully autonomous AI SDRs have not replaced human teams at scale, and that human in the loop, where the software drafts and a person approves, performs best. Autopilot is a per-sequence switch you turn on once a sequence has earned it.

Multichannel alternatives if you need LinkedIn and calls

Some teams genuinely need more than email. In Hunter's State of Cold Email 2026, 50.5% of surveyed decision makers said they prefer to be approached on LinkedIn, against 25% for email. If your buyers live there, multichannel is not optional.

Lemlist Multichannel is the closest like-for-like swap. Its pricing page lists it at $109 per user per month, or $87 on annual billing, with five senders per user plus LinkedIn, SMS, WhatsApp and calling steps, as of September 2026. It is still per seat, so the total climbs with headcount, but it sits below Reply.io's fully loaded $187 and the trial needs no card. Our Lemlist alternative guide runs the per-seat math for a four-person team.

AiSDR bundles LinkedIn accounts into its plans: one on Solo at $250 a month, five on Explore, twenty on Scale, as of September 2026. MarketBetter's review notes there is no dialer, so calling is out, and our AiSDR alternatives guide covers the quarterly billing above Solo.

Ask any vendor that automates LinkedIn how it protects the account. SalesRobot's review lists account blocks among Reply.io users' complaints, and that risk belongs in the decision whichever tool wins.

Email-first alternatives with reply handling and booking

If email is the channel, the question becomes what happens after someone replies. That is where sequencers and AI SDR tools separate.

Instantly lists its outreach-only Growth plan at $47 a month with 5,000 emails, 1,000 contacts and unlimited mailboxes, as of September 2026. A Reddit thread on that plan reports that replying from the Unibox is not available at that tier. Per workspace it undercuts per-user pricing for any team of two or more, but reply handling is not what it sells. Our Instantly alternative guide goes deeper.

Smartlead starts at $39 a month, or $32.50 annual, with 2,000 contacts, 6,000 sends and unlimited mailboxes, as of September 2026. Reviewers quoted by MarketBetter say it "has absolutely no concept of who you should email" and that analytics stop at open, reply and bounce rates.

SDRclose treats the reply as the product. Inboxes are checked about once a minute, a reply stops the sequence for that lead, and each one is classified as interested, not interested, out of office, bounce, automatic reply or another bucket. Out-of-office return dates are parsed so the follow-up resumes on the next business day, and hard bounces mark the lead bounced and stop the sequence.

Neither bounces nor out-of-office notices count as replies in your stats, which keeps the reply rate honest. When a prospect agrees to talk, the software checks your connected calendar for real availability and books, proposes alternatives, or hands the thread to a human. See reply detection and sequences for each step.

Compare that with the norm. Hunter's help center explains that its detection tags an auto-reply and excludes it from metrics, but does not extract the return date, pause follow-ups or resume them. Practitioners in an r/coldemail thread on out-of-office replies describe pausing leads seven to ten days and resuming after the stated date, which is the manual chore worth automating.

Sending differs too. SDRclose sends over standard SMTP and IMAP from your own Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Zoho or other mailboxes, rotating up to 12 per account with per-mailbox daily and hourly caps and a guard that refuses to cold-send from a mailbox still in warmup. Given that reviewers list no built-in warm-up among Reply.io's gaps, that matters on a new domain.

Contract terms to check before you sign

The Reply.io complaints double as a checklist for anything in this category. Ask every vendor these.

  1. Minimum term. SalesRobot reports a three-month minimum at Reply.io that reviewers say is not clearly disclosed. AiSDR bills Explore and Scale quarterly, putting $2,700 upfront on Explore, as of September 2026.
  2. Refund policy. Reviewers report no refunds of paid monthly bills at Reply.io. Get it in the order form, not the chat window.
  3. Seat or workspace. Reply.io, Lemlist Multichannel and Apollo price per user; SDRclose, Lemlist Email, Instantly and Smartlead price per workspace. For a team of four, that multiplier is the whole story.
  4. Add-on stacking. The roughly $187 per user for true multichannel is a base seat plus LinkedIn, calls and validation. Ask for the fully loaded figure.
  5. Credit expiry. SDRclose plan credits are granted per billing period, monthly or twelve months at once on annual billing, while purchased top-ups (2,500 for $19, or 10,000 for $59) carry over and are drawn only after the plan allowance, as of September 2026.
  6. Cancellation path. Can you cancel in the app, or does it take a support ticket? One-star reviews on Instantly's Trustpilot profile, fetched September 2026, describe billing continuing for months after cancellation requests.
  7. Trial. Lemlist gives 14 days without a card, SDRclose 7 days at $0 today with a card, AiSDR none.

When to pick Reply.io instead

  • You need true multichannel in one sequence. Email, LinkedIn, calls and SMS in a single cadence is Reply.io's core offer. SDRclose neither dials phones nor sends LinkedIn messages.
  • You run a larger per-seat sales team. A platform with more than 1,505 G2 reviews and per-user reporting suits ten reps better than it suits a founder.
  • You want the agency tier. The reported Agency plan from $166 a month, annual only, runs multiple client workspaces from one login.
  • You want the AI SDR and the sequencer from one vendor. If the budget stretches to Jason plus outreach seats, one contract is simpler than two.

If none of those describe your team, the per-seat model is selling capability you will not use.

The short version

Reply.io is a capable platform priced for teams that will use every channel and every seat. For a founder, a small team or an agency testing an offer, a reported $187 per user, or $500 a month for Jason on an annual term, is a lot of commitment before the first reply lands.

A per-workspace plan at $39 a month that researches the prospect, writes the email, waits for approval, classifies the reply and books the meeting covers what most small teams hired an AI SDR to do. Compare plans and pricing, or start a 7-day trial and run a sequence from your own mailbox this week.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Reply.io cost per user?

Every public figure is reported rather than official, because Reply.io's pricing page returned an HTTP 403 error when we fetched it in September 2026. Amplemarket's May 2026 breakdown puts Email Volume at $49 to $59 per user per month on annual billing and Multichannel at $89 per user annual or $99 monthly. Adding LinkedIn, calls and validation takes a fully loaded seat to roughly $187 per user.

Is Jason AI included in Reply.io plans?

No. Jason AI is sold as a separate product and is not bundled into the Sales Outreach plans. SalesRobot's June 2026 review reports Jason Starter at $500 a month on annual billing or $800 monthly, covering 500 to 3,000 contacts depending on the source, with Growth reported between $1,500 and $2,500 a month. Get the current terms in writing.

Does Reply.io have a minimum contract?

Reviewers say yes. SalesRobot's June 2026 review describes a mandatory three-month minimum that is not clearly disclosed, along with no refunds on paid monthly bills. Because the vendor's pricing page did not load for us in September 2026, treat that as reported and ask for the minimum term, the refund policy and the cancellation path in the order form before paying.

What is the cheapest Jason AI alternative?

Among tools that research each prospect, write the email and handle the reply, SDRclose starts at $39 a month billed annually per workspace, as of September 2026. AiSDR's Solo plan is $250 a month, month to month. Pure sequencers such as Smartlead at $39 and Instantly at $47 cost less again, but they do not research prospects or classify replies.

Does Reply.io include email warm-up?

SalesRobot's June 2026 review lists no built-in email warm-up among Reply.io's gaps, which usually means paying for a separate warmup tool. If you send from new domains, check whether the platform ramps volume gradually and blocks cold sends from a mailbox that is still warming. SDRclose includes a progressive warmup and that guard on every plan.
